Portraits for the Akshara Foundation

Akshara is part of a national initiative that has helped over a million children gain access to quality primary education. To date, Akshara has touched the lives of close 100,000 children in and around the city of Bangalore. However, there are thousands more still in need of help.

I took these images one hurried afternoon at "Islamnagar", a very low income area off airport road in Bangalore for the Akshara Foundation. Do check out their website mentioned at the top of this post and if you can, make a donation. It will go towards educating Indias under privileged kids.
